New Autumn book releases!
It’s normal to feel a little glum this time of year, as the weather turns colder and darker and Christmas still feels a while away. There is still something to look forward to though: all the amazing new literature being released this autumn! The arrival of autumn also signals the perfect season to get your hands on a new book, and these five new releases are definitely ones you should have on your radar...
Inseparable by Simone de Beauvoir (7th September)
A never-before-published novel by the iconic feminist writer Simone de Beauvoir is definitely a reason to get excited! The story focuses on an intense female friendship between two girls against the backdrop of post-World War One France, chartering their maturity, rebellion and intense loyalty to one another. A celebration of womanhood, friendship and history, definitely not a book to be missed!
Beautiful World, Where Are You by Sally Rooney (7th September)
A new novel by Sally Rooney - need we say more? Rooney’s latest offering revolves around four friends and the complex tangle of desires, dreams and connections that bind them all together. The struggle of entering real adulthood in the modern world is captured as poignantly as only Rooney knows how, with each character trying to discover their own place in the world.
Harlem Shuffle by Colson Whitehead (23rd August)
Harlem Shuffle is a masterfully detailed plot, showing life in Harlem in the 60s with extraordinary minutiae. Whitehead nails the marriage of a moving family saga with a rollicking crime tale. Entertaining, surprising, and very informative, this is a welcome new addition into the Whitehead canon.
