It would be a crime not to include Tartt’s dark academia classic in a list of Autumn novels. The campus of the New England college in which five friends commit a murder together is electric with descriptions of the beautiful Autumnal language, and the atmosphere hits this season on the nail. 

The Year of the Witching by Alexis Henderson

This book will definitely get you in the Halloween spirit, but it remains smart and insightful throughout, with no cheap horrors. Immanuelle Moore grows up in the restrictive religious community of Bethel, but finds dark powers within herself that are blasphemous in her Puritan community. A perfect read for dark spooky nights!
